Blood cancer is the fourth most common cancer in Nigeria and worldwide. There is a lower survival rate of blood cancer in Nigeria compared to other parts of the world. A major contributing factor to the poor survival rate is late diagnosis. Many hospitals in Nigeria are not equipped with an auto-hematology analyzer to check blood counts. A full blood count shows abnormalities in the blood count, which can be a pointer to the presence of blood cancer. Blood Runner is an initiative of The White Cell Foundation to take blood cancer screening to the community as well as other blood-related services. Blood Runner is a custom-built mobile blood van equipped with a portable hematology analyzer, whose primary function is to run a full blood count by processing drops of blood taken from a finger prick. Kindly assist us in acquiring Blood Runner to help detect blood cancer in the community and to help save lives.
