The causal factors contributing to the road accidents faced by students in the Iwopin community include: Lack of awareness and road safety education among children: Many students may not be adequately educated on safe crossing practices and awareness of potential dangers on the road. Reckless and distracted driving by motorists: Drivers' behaviours, such as speeding, distraction (e.g., using phones), and not yielding to pedestrians, contribute significantly to accidents. Poorly designed roads and intersections: Infrastructure issues like inadequate pedestrian crossings, unclear road markings, and poorly maintained roads increase the risk for accidents. Non-availability of road signs to regulate speed: Absence of speed limit signs and other traffic control measures makes it difficult for drivers to navigate safely through school zones. Overspeeding by drivers: Drivers exceeding speed limits, especially near schools where children cross, heightens the likelihood of accidents.
